A case of lymphangitic carcinoma of the lung with the inconspicuous primary origin in the stomach is presented. The diagnosis was made first by sputum examination and radiogram and was later confirmed by pleural fluid examination and autopsy. The possibility that malignant cells may be found in the sputum in metastatic as well as in primary tumors of the lung is pointed out.
