1 The Department of Medicine (Allergy) of the New York Medical College, Flower-Fifth Avenue Hospital, and the Research Unit, Metropolitan Hospital, New York City.
Streptomycin in aerosol form as produced by a combined steam generator and aerosolizer is readily absorbed through the lung into the blood stream. Administered in this fashion its action would, therefore, be twofold in the treatment of respiratory infections with streptomycintopically and by systemic action following absorption.
With the use of the breathing box, and with propylene glycol as a vehicle, serum levels of streptomycin of six hours' duration are readily obtained.
