1) In the presence of tuberculous pleural effusions, PAS:
a) when given intrapleurally, appears in the blood in significant amounts.
b) after oral administration it may be recovered from the pleural fluid in significant amounts.
2) These findings were observed in the presence of either serous or purulent exudates and with thickened as well as thin pleural membranes.
