The pneumotachogram is a record obtained quickly and easily with apparatus offering only negligible resistance to breathing.
It yields information in regard to the characteristics of resting ventilation and ventilation during maximum effort.
It is possible to interpret the record in terms of some of the deficiencies in the respiratory apparatus probably accounting for reduced ventilatory function.
As in the electrocardiogram, the pneumotachogram is best interpreted in connection with the information gained from history, physical and other functional studies.
