The Early Recognition of Bronchiogenic Carcinoma

JIM S. JEWETT M.D.1

1 The Department of Medicine, Wayne University College of Medicine, and the Veterans Administration Hospital, Dearborn, Michigan.

We are not in accord with the concept that there are no symptoms or signs that will aid the physician to detect early primary pulmonary malignancy. By correlating the early clinical and radiographic features of a bronchiogenic carcinoma with its site of origin within the bronchial tree, it is hoped that the protean manifestations of this cancer will be better understood. A number of illustrative cases have been briefly reviewed.
