A case is presented in which treatment by pneumoperitoneum and left phrenic crush after termination of right pneumothorax was followed by pulmonary insufficiency and death. It is suggested that pneumoperitoneum in conjunction with phrenic crush may be dangerous when functional impairment of the contralateral lung is suspected.
