1 The Department of Medicine, Letterman Army Hospital.
1. A hypersensitivity reaction to PAS and streptomycin is reported, believed to be the first fatal case in this country.
2. The reaction was characterized by fever, skin rash, conjunctivitis, lymphadenopathy, mental deterioration, eosinophilia, atypical lymphocytosis, and a fulminant hepatic necrosis.
3. Both PAS and streptomycin appeared to be sensitizing agents.
