What Can Public Health Contribute to the Private Practice of Medicine?

Prevention of chronic disease and disability and care of long term illness are today's major health needs. These needs require not only diagnosis and medical supervision by the practicing physician but also a variety of planned and integrated community services. The physician should assume leadership in securing community awareness of need and provision for these services.
