About 76 per cent of our present old age population are infected with tuberculosis.
Tuberculin sensitivity is maintained for a long time. Persons oven 100 years old reacted to tuberculin. More men in the old age group reacted than women. Tuberculosis remains a major problem because of the high residual of infection in our old population.
Retesting of this age group every 10 years should give an index of the residual infection.
