1 Associate Physician, Department of Medicine, Union Hospital, Lynn, Massachusetts.
Serial x-ray film studies were done on patients with bronchial asthma and associated chest pathology who were treated with intramuscular trypsin. Three cases are offered for study and comparison along with the readings of the consulting radiologist and of a reviewing radiologist. The difficulties of comparative radiology are outlined. The progress observed in certain types of chest disease, wherein the inspissation of tenacious mucus is a cardinal symptom, is reported with the use of intramuscular trypsin. In consideration of the subjective and objective findings, further studies are being carried on with particular reference to emphysema and bronchiectasis.
