A statistical study of hospitalized patients indicated a significantly increased incidence of chronic peptic ulcer in chronic obstructive pulmonary emphysema. Of 478 cases studied, 109 (22.7 per cent) had evidence of associated emphysema and peptic ulcer. A control group of 3225 patients of same age group without emphysema revealed an incidence of 2.7 per cent.
