Pulmonary hypertension associated with cardiac disease may effect distortions and compressions of the tracheobronchial tree. Certain changes result from pulmonary arterial hypertension alone. When elevation of left atrial pressure also is present, additional deformities occur. In children, the compressive effects of hypertensive pulmonary vessels may cause significant pulmonary complications.
