Selective Ventricular Chamber Enlargement: A Comparative Study of the Electrocardiographic and Roentgenologic Diagnostic Accuracy in Congenital and Acquired Heart Disease

William J. Kuzman M.D., F.C.C.P.1 and Anton S. Yuskis M.D.1

1 San Diego County Heart Center

A review of our experiences demonstrating the relative diagnostic accuracy of the electrocardiographic and roentgenologic study of the heart has been presented. The series included both congenital and acquired cardiac defects in all age groups. In both forms of heart disease, the study bears out our previous observations that the electrocardiogram is far superior to conventional radiography in identifying specific ventricular chamber enlargement under most circumstances.
