The Mineral Content of the Lung in Chronic Berylliosis

1. Spectrographic analyses were made on 58 cases of alleged chronic berylliosis.

2. The values for 22 elements identified in 20 of the cases in which beryllium also was present are presented.

3. Certain trace elements, normally present in lung tissue, were not demonstrable.

4. Sodium and potassium concentrations were decreased. All other values were increased from 2 to 150 times.

5. Selective deviations from the values found in 30 cases of sarcoidosis are recorded.
