In 20 dogs, the descending branch of the left coronary artery was ligated and the distal part cannulated in order to measure the blood flow from the ischemic area. The influence of oxygen treatment at 1 asmosphere and at 3 atmospheres pressure was studied. Backflows did not decrease at the start of oxygen treatment. The oxygen tension in the backflow blood rose to very high levels at 3 atmospheres. Several biochemical changes appeared to be influenced much more favorably by oxygen administration at 3 atmospheres than at 1 atmosphere.
