Traumatic Pneumothorax

A fifteen-year experience with 270 cases of traumatic pneumothorax at the San Francisco General Hospital is reviewed. The categories analyzed include pneumothorax due to: stab wounds, gunshot wounds, rib fractures, blunt trauma, and iatrogenic causes. Each group is discussed separately and conclusions are drawn as to the proper management.
