Alterations of Surfactant in Oxygen Poisoning

Experimental studies are reported that suggest the importance of surfactant in the pathogenesis of the lung damage due to O2 poisoning. Several possibilities exist for its role in the pathogenesis of lung damage. These findings raise several important clinical questions which can only be answered after further experimental work.
