Three cases of ectopic tachycardia were presented with unusual retrograde conduction to the atria. The first reported instance of spontaneous A-V nodal or bundle of His tachycardia with 1:1 retrograde and antegrade conduction in the face of complete A-V block of sinus impulses demonstrated decremental conduction.
A case of ventricular tachycardia with retrograde conduction and 2:1 block and one of A-V nodal or bundle of His tachycardia with retrograde conduction and varying block showed unusual types of retrograde conduction.
Simultaneous esophageal and standard lead electrocardiographic tracings contributed to the correct analysis of the arrhythmias in two cases.
The role of drugs and the common etiologic factor of coronary arteriosclerosis were discussed in relation to the tachycardias and retrograde conduction.
