A 17-year-old boy was hospitalized for treatment of infectious mononucleosis. The clinical picture included atypical pneumonia complicated by pleural effusion. Follow-up chest roentgenogram showed pleural thickening of the affectd side. Formerly Registrar, Harlow Group of Hospitals, Essex, England.
