A case in which sarcoidosis presented as dysphagia caused by compression of the esophagus is reported. In addition, four previously reported cases of sarcoidosis involving the esophagus are summarized. Three of the four previously reported cases presented as dysphagia and one presented as esophageal pain without dysphagia. The present case is reported because it is unusual for sarcoidosis with bilateral hilar adenopathy to compress the esophagus and to present as dysphagia.
