At necropsy, a rare congenital aneurysm of the basal aspect of the left ventricle was found in a seven-month-old boy who died of congestive heart failure. The mouth of the aneurysm lay posteromedial to the posteromedial papillary muscle of the left ventricle. Isolated strands resembling chordae tendineae were present in the aneurysm, the wall of which was muscular.
