Seven patients suffering from ischemic heart disease were diagnosed electrocardiographically by means of a single-stage exercise test. The single-stage near maximal work load was individually chosen, based on a previously performed multistage exercise test in each patient. The method is described in detail and its importance stressed in finding patients suffering from ischemic heart disease whose condition would be undetected by other means of exercise testing.
