Two case reports underscore the importance of the mitral valvespecifically, the anterior leafletin the anatomic and hemodynamic lesions of hypertrophic subaortic stenosis. We explored the reciprocal relationship between asymmetric septal hypertrophy and the mitral valve. One patient had relief of outflow obstruction after mitral valve replacement.
