The Friction Rubs of Pericarditis

Alexander Weiss M.D.1 and Aldo A. Luisada M.D., F.C.G.P.1

1 Division of Cardiology (Medicine), The Chicago Medical School, University of Health Sciences and the Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center

The graphic characteristics of the friction rubs were studied in 13 clinical cases. The high frequency vibrations of the rubs were found either only in one, or in two or three phases. The most common occurrence was two phases, so that there was a systolic rub and then a pandiastolic rub.

Some of the aspects of these vibrations are described.
