Traction-Induced Fracture of a Central Venous Pressure Catheter

This report cites an instance of fracture of a central venous pressure catheter induced by forceful traction on the external portion. Using the pervenous snare technique, the resultant catheter embolus was recovered under fluoroscopic guidance.
