Radiopaque Fluorocarbon–A New Agent for Studying Pulmonary Structure and Function

1 Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine of the University of Illinois College of Medicine and the Departments of Pathology and Surgical Research of the Hektoen Institute for Medical Research of the Cook County Hospital, Chicago, Illinois

1) A new class of radiopaque agents, brominated perfluorocarbon, is presented.

2) The chemical and biologic characteristics of brominated perfluorocarbon compounds indicate that they will be useful in studying pulmonary structure and function.
