Ventricular Parasystole with Reentry in the AV Node

Kenneth S. Gimbel M.D.1

1 Boston City Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts

A case of ventricular parasystole with concealed retrograde conduction is presented. Two instances of ventricular reexcitation in the form of echo beats are described. The absence of retrograde atrial activity preceding the echoes suggests that the reentry circuit did not include an atrial bridge. A review of the pertinent literature discusses the role of the atria in the reentry path of ventricular echoes
