A new biochemical technique for the determination of rifampin and desacetylrifampicin in body fluid was developed. Identification of rifampin metabolites in human urine was carried out. Rifampin oxidizing activity of human saliva was noticed and the nature of the active substance was investigated.
Controlled clinical trials on initial treatment and retreatment were conducted and it was revealed that rifampin was a very important antituberculostatic agent.
