A patient with sinoatrial arrest and atrioventricular junctional escape rhythm due to lidocaine is reported. The patient was on small doses of quinidine. Two other cases of sinoatrial arrest associated with lidocaine infusion have been reported in the literature. In these three cases, sinus arrest occurred under one of the three following conditions: 1) advanced age, 2) probable interaction with other drugs (quinidine and phenylhydantoin), 3) inferior wall myocardial infarction.
