A case of longterm support with a membrane lung is presented. The problems of cannulation, anticoagulation and perfusion techniques are outlined and discussed. Although the patient eventually died of her primary disease, the physiologic data indicated a reversal of the pulmonary defect permitting termination of the perfusion after six days.
