Percutaneous pulmonary biopsy is a direct approach to diagnosis of the troublesome pulmonary nodule. Our series emphasize the accuracy and simplicity of the technique with 124 positive cases of carcinoma diagnosed without a serious complication. Specific cell type was given in 105 of the 124 cases of carcinoma. Valuable diagnostic information leading to the diagnosis of benign conditions was obtained in 14 cases. The procedure can be utilized on an outpatient basis and can save valuable time and permit prompt institution of appropriate therapy.
