A patient is presented in whom an ECG pattern of left bundle branch block temporarily disappeared following an episode of acute pulmonary embolism. Clinical improvement was associated with a return of the ECG pattern to the pre-embolization configuration. It is postulated that the original left bundle branch block pattern was due to delayed conduction along the left bundle branch, which was "normalized" by the occurrence of delay in conduction along the right bundle secondary to pulmonary embolism. Recovery from pulmonary embolism resulted in reappearance of the left bundle branch block pattern.
