1 Pulmonary Unit, Massachusetts General Hospital, the Department of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, and the Department of Physiology, Harvard School of Public Health, Boston
After acute inhalation of toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) vapors, a patient developed moderately severe chemical bronchitis. Pulmonary function abnormalities 24 hours after TDI inhalation were consistent with airway dysfunction. One month later pulmonary function had returned to normal. These studies may be helpful in defining the physiologic derangement in TDI intoxication.
