Underestimation of Ejection Fraction with Singleplane Angiography in Coronary Artery Disease: Role of Biplane Angiography

Singleplane RAO cineangiography frequently underestimates the ejection fraction in patients with coronary artery disease. Study of segmental wall motion explains the ejection fraction differences between RAO singleplane and biplane cineangiography. Healthy walls in one view do not necessarily indicate well functioning walls in another. In coronary artery disease it is impossible to accurately predict the biplane ejection fraction from the singleplane alone. Therefore, biplane cineangiography is required to accurately assess ventricular function in
