Arteriovenous Communication Associated with Obstructive Arteriosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease and Myocardial Infarction

An arteriovenous fistula from the anterior descending coronary artery to the great cardiac vein was detected by coronary cineangiography in a 53-year-old man. The fistula was believed acquired secondary to occlusive arteriosclerotic coronary artery disease. Clinical findings and cardiac catheterization revealed evidence of left ventricular failure, and a surgical procedure was undertaken to close the fistula and re-establish normal hemodynamic parameters.
