A case of hemorrhagic, bronchospastic tracheobronchitis is reported. The etiology of the lesion is felt to be related to tracheal burns which occurred as a result of excessive gas temperatures delivered to the airway during mechanical ventilation. The prevention and treatment of this problem are discussed.
