Transbronchial Forceps Lung Biopsy Through the Fiberoptic Bronchoscope in Pneumocystis Carinii Pneumonia

Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia was diagnosed in four patients using transbronchial forceps lung biopsy through the fiberoptic bronchoscope. Using this method, we have performed 78 biopsies in 21 patients and have had no complications. Excellent tissue for histologic examination has been obtained in every case.
