Aberrant left pulmonary artery (vascular sling) is a congenital malformation characterized by an anomalous course of the left pulmonary artery, posterior to the trachea, which may cause severe airway obstructions in newborns and infants. The clinical, diagnostic and surgical features of five cases are presented; three were operated, with two longterm survivors. Since the malformation has a poor prognosis, early surgical treatment, based on proper diagnostic measures, is stressed.
