1 USPHS Indian Hospital, Whiteriver, Ariz
Intermittent supervised chemotherapy has been shown to be effective in the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. Seven Apache Indian patients with extrapulmonary tuberculosis were treated with an intermittent regimen of isoniazed and streptomycin following an initial course of daily therapy. It was concluded that intermittent supervised chemotherapy is, also, an effective alternative to daily self-administered medication in the treatment of extrapulmonary tuberculosis.
