Some of the causes of pulmonary bleeding have been considered. Attention has been called to references in the literature to some of the more uncommon causes of hemoptysis, and a case has been reported of periodic bleeding from the respiratory tract associated with noctural convulsions, which was greatly benefited by removal of that part of the lung from which the bleeding occurred. The bleeding was probably on a functional basis since no cause could be found on pathological examination of that part of the lung removed. The patient continues to enjoy good health and has had no recurrence of the disorder two years after the operation.
