Involvement of Presynaptic or Postsynaptic, agr1- or agr2-Adrenoceptors?

Stimulation of agr-adrenoceptors within medullary brain structures leads to cardiovascular depression by sympathetic inhibition and vagal activation. The central agr-adrenoceptors have been identified to be located postsynaptically (agonists are active after depletion of endogenous catecholamines) and to be of the agr2 type (high agonistic activity of clonidine-like drugs with agr2-selectivity and high antagonistic activity of rauwolscine, which is highly agr2-selective).
